In today’s fast-paced world, mental health has emerged as a critical issue, especially affecting religious women. Studies indicate a significant rise in stress, anxiety, and depression within this demographic due to factors like isolation, trauma, and societal expectations. Understanding the need for intervention, the Conference of Religious Women India (CRWI), in collaboration with Christ University, Bangalore, is launching a comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) program on Basic Counseling Skills for Mental Health and Wellness.
A study by the Catholic Health Association found that 75% of Catholic sisters experience stress, anxiety, or depression. Moreover, the International Union of Superiors General has identified mental health as a priority concern for consecrated women. With support from WHO, it is evident that mental health care within faith-based communities is crucial. This program aims to empower sisters with skills to manage mental health challenges, fostering a supportive community for holistic well-being.
The ToT program will take place from November to December 2024 across various regions in India, enabling sisters to:
Participants will engage in a five-day intensive training (Monday to Friday, ) focusing on essential areas like distress identification, counseling skills, suicide prevention, and practical demonstrations through case studies and roleplays.
